SHELBY, OH- Shelby resident Renae Wells was greeted around 9:00 AM Friday morning with a smell she described as 'burning rubber.'

Concerned, she and her kids looked outside to see their neighbor's Oak Street home engulfed in smoke.

Luckily, the fire department had already been called and she says when they arrived they got the fire contained quickly.

Shelby Fire Cheif, Michael J. Thompson says a mother and two children were present at the time of the fire but managed to evacuate safely without any injuries. The house which they rented, however, was considered a total loss.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury.

Shelby Fire Department and Shiloh Fire Department responded.

The Shelby Police Department plans to set up a 'GoFundMe' to help the family.
